New Kit and RTR - LNER/BR J39 0-6-0

The class was introduced by Nigel Gresley in July 1926, based on his previous Class J38
0-6-0 (introduced in January 1926) but with larger driving wheels(increased from the J38's
4ft 8in, to 5ft 2in). The larger wheels enabled them to be used on both passenger and
goods trains, although at the expense of a lower tractive effort. As a result they were
given the BR power classification 4P/5F, rather than the 6F of the earlier class. A total of
289 examples were produced at Darlington and Beyer, Peacock & Co. over next fifteen
years and were found on the North East, Southern and Scottish areas of the LNER.

The larger wheels necessitated the provision of 6in deep splasher casings over the front
two wheels, which is the main visual difference between the two classes. The locomotives
were all fitted with superheaters and Ross 'Pop' safety valves.

All survived into British Railways ownership in 1948 and they were numbered 64700-64988.
They began to be withdrawn from service in 1959 and all examples had been scrapped
by the end of 1962.

KIT - K331
Will cover locomotives paired with the 4200g Group Standard tender (106 engines) and
will include various detail differences/optional parts carried throughout their lives. It will
include the following parts;
Cast white metal - boiler/firebox, chimney, steam dome, footplate, loco and tender steps
smokebox door, cab roof, cab detail, brakes, sandboxes, buffer housings, westinghouse
pump, tender coal hopper/deck and side frames/axleboxes.
Brass & Nickel Silver etchings - cab, reverse rod, balance weights, chassis, coupling rods,
tender sides, back, floor and chassis, fire irons, fallplate and brake rodding.
Brass & Nickel small cast parts - brake/steam pipes, whistle, safety valves, lubricators,
lamp brackets, smokebox door handle, buffers, cab backhead parts and various other
small fittings.
Various fittings - brass handrail knobs, nut and bolts, Ø0.4mm to Ø2mm wire, insulated wire,
clear plastic glazing and full set of colour instruction and illustrations.
NOTE: Slaters wheels, pick-ups, screw link couplings and motor/gearbox are available

These will come fully assembled and track tested with a full 12 months in-house warranty
against faulty parts or labour.
They are completely designed and manufactured in our own UK factory and include the
powerful Slaters GB30 motor /gearbox, Slaters wheels, screwlink couplings, fully glazed
cab and real coal used in the hopper.
They can be made DCC ready for a small additional charge (please advise your selected
system & requirements for a quotation).

The following liveries will be available;
K331A - LNER lined black (original numbers, LNER on tender sides)
K331B - LNER unlined black (1946 numbers, NE on tender sides)
K331C - BR unlined black (British Railways on tender sides)
K331D - BR unlined black (early or late emblem on tender sides)
