All the pre-grouping railways had their own distinctive style of water column and those of the North Eastern Railway were among the most handsome. The company owned hundreds of columns which came in a variety of shapes and sizes. This standard pattern was the most numerous type, measuring 9ft-9in from the underside of the base to the centre line of the outlet pipe. This beautifully detailed kit consists mainly of cast whitemetal parts, with brass wire and chain.
