K51 - BR std class 5 Caprotti(BR1B/1C tender)
Thirty of these engines, Nos 73125-54, were built in 1956 as a variant of the standard design (see K35) fitted with Caprotti valve gear. They were divided between the Midland and Scottish regions but in their final years they were concentrated in the North West. The kit comes with the correct high-sided BR1B/1C tender and features a cast one-piece boiler/firebox/smokebox. One-piece footplate, etched cab and tender sides, nickel-silver valve gear and screw-together chassis. The distinctive Caprotti valve gear is represented by finely detailed lost-wax brass castings. Needs Motor/gearbox and Wheelset to complete. We recommend AM9 motor/gearbox. Wheels available form Markits (manufacturer) or Mainly Trains (stockist).
