K320 - LMS/BR Class 2F (2P/2F;2MT) 2-6-0 Mixed Traffic
This lightweight mogul design was introduced in 1946 and was the predecessor of the BR Standard 2MT (kit K310) which it closely resembles. Although some parts are common, we have produced entirely separate kits for the two classes. Designed by H.G Ivatt and the Class 2 2-6-0 was designed for branch and secondary line mixed traffic services. It was nicknamed 'Micky Mouse' on account of it's small size and lively performance. A total of 128 engines were built between 1946-53 and allocated to every Region except the Southern. Withdrawals started in 1961 with the last one taken out of service at the end of 1967.
The kit features whitemetal boiler/firebox, a single casting for the footplate, etched cab and tender body with fine rivet detail and a host of lost wax detail fittings . The bolt-together chassis is etched in sturdy 36 thou brass while the more delicate coupling/connecting rods, valve motion and slide bars are in nickel silver. Sprung buffers are included.
