E118 - SAR 6J 4-6-0
The most successful of the bar-framed versions of the numerous 6th class, which originated in 1893, were the fourteen locos supplied in 1902 by Nielson, Reid & Co., which were used initially on the Cape main line. The last of the type was withdrawn from Bethlehem as late as 1972.
Kit features: One Piece Cast Boiler/Smokebox/Firebox, cast Footplate, Cab sides/front, Cab Roof, Backhead, Steam Dome, Chimney, Tender sides/end, Cylinders and various other parts. Brass and Nickel Silver Etched parts include; pre-assembled Valvegear, Chassis frames and other smaller parts. There is also some small fine cast brass fittings. Also comes with Motor/Gearbox, Wheels, Number plates and ‘Kaydee’ Couplings. Only requires transfers, solder and paint to complete.
