K313 - LNER/BR Thompson A2/3 4-6-2
The A2/3s were the first new express engines to be built at Doncaster after the War and incorporated many modifications and design innovations which, it was hoped, would improve on Gresley’s earlier Pacifics. They worked passenger and fitted goods trains on the East Coast Main Line; the last example went in 1965. Dimensionally the A2/3s were the longest of all the LNER Pacifics and this large, imposing model has all the character of the original, incorporating virtually every visible detail of the prototype.
As usual the kit features a one-piece cast boiler/smokebox and footplate, etched brass fold-up cab and tender sides and a wealth of brass cast details and fittings. We recommend Napier motor/gearbox.
We recommend GB30R-3M Motor/Gearbox.
