K325C - BR Std Class 5 4-6-0 BR1F Tender
This kit covers numbers 73110-73119. Introduced in April 1951, the Std Class 5 followed in design principal the highly successful LMS Balck Five. A total of 172 engines were built by Derby and later Doncaster works. A highly versatile, mixed-traffic engine, they were allocated to all parts of the country. Liveries were mainly the handsome BR mixed-traffic black with red, cream and grey lining but some did emerge from Swindon works lined in BR Passenger Green including 73029, 73031, 73035 and 73054. Five preserved examples exist today although the last of the class was officially withdrawn from service in 1968. The body is largely in whitemetal with fold-up etched cab and a mass of steam fittings executed for the most part in lost-wax brass. The footplate is a one-piece whitemetal casting with an etched brass overlay. Fully detailed cab interior.
