This model is part of our standard ready to runs which have been cleverly tooled and designed with a cast tender and cab to create a cost effective range of locomotives whilst still maintaining the outstanding quality and finish that DJH Model Loco is known for. By using larger components and removing intricate brass etchings from the build, we are able to produce these ready to runs in a shorter time frame – reducing the cost.
BR Peppercorn A1 4-6-2
The LNER Peppercorn Class A1 4-6-2 locomotive were built to the design of A.H. Peppercorn (the last Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LNER). A total of 49 were built in four batches between 1948 and 1949 at Doncaster and Darlington works. They were designed to haul some of the heaviest passenger trains on the East Coast Mainline after the war period. By 1961 the class had accumulated 48 million miles and they were unmatched by any other steam locomotive on BR. The last Peppercorn A1s were withdrawn in 1966.
Our most ambitious project to date this excellent model is a natural progression to the widely acclaimed projects BR03, J72 and BR Standard Class 2 2-6-2t. Completely designed and manufactured in our own UK factory. Includes the powerful Slaters GB30-3M motor /gearbox, Slaters wheels and is fully painted and lined and comes with a full 12 months factory warranty.
