K314 - BR Thompson A2/2 4-6-2
These impressive but slightly ungainly-looking engines were a rebuild of Gresley's class P2 2-8-2s into Pacific form. As a small, non-standard sub-class they were among the first of the LNER’s splendid express stud to be scrapped – the last to go was 'Earl Marischal', withdrawn in June 1961. Thorough research has resulted in a highly detailed kit that is a great pleasure to build and looks hugely impressive in action .
In common with our other kits for LNER express engines it features a one-piece cast boiler/smokebox and footplate, etched brass fold-up cab and tender sides and a wealth of brass cast details and fittings. The solidity of the cast whitemetal cylinders, steam pipes and other fittings contrasts with the scale-thickness delicacy of the cab side sheets and tender-top area. We recommend Napier motor/gearbox.
